Run for a Reason
 Lung Power Team Member: Tina StrilkoMy name is Tina Strilko and this year I'll be running my fourth Chicago Marathon and I am excited to be doing so with the Lung Power Team. I am running in memory of my grandmother, Maxine, who passed away in 2010 and in honor of my sister, Shelley, and her daily struggle with lung disease. As I watched both of them struggle with lung disease, I felt so powerless to help. So, when I signed up for the 2011 Chicago Marathon, I found Lung Power Team and knew it would be a great organization to put my efforts towards. I hope to help bring awareness to the fight against lung disease and to help raise money for the work of the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago. I anticipate running over 450 miles in the coming months as I train and run the marathon and many local races. Every finish line I run towards, I will be thinking of not only my family, but of all of those who struggle to even catch their breath with the hope that someday those like my sister can run alongside me! I look foward to running with the Lung Power Team and being inspired by the rest of the runners as well! |
